Introducing Piccadilly Markets....Geelong

Oh, the relief!  My search is finally over!  I had found the best, most creative and spectacularly beautiful market in Geelong!
Piccadilly Markets is a stunning handmade design market in Geelong and I felt right at home (perhaps moving interstate is not such a bad thing after all!).
Set in the lovely Waterfront precinct of Deakin University the indoor market really has an outdoor feel with bunting hanging from every corner and the perfect buzz of a packed market.  The stalls are quite diverse and all the stall holders were so delightful.  There was so much to look at and touch and smell I was entranced.  I spent hours longingly looking at each
hand made goody and my hubby was happy too with ‘Le Sausage’ bought from a fantastic little food truck in the courtyard.
With an arm full of handmade cookies, perfect little greeting cards and a super cute dress I was a happy little lady!

Market Madness...

WOW looks like the Newcastle Farmers Market has come a long way Sal.  I have taken it upon myself to check out every single market there is to see down here in Victoria.  And so far, I have done a cracking job!
On our first weekend in Geelong Marcus and I scouted the Geelong Steampacket Gardens Market.  Ok, so the weather was cold, windy and rainy so it is understandable that the markets were a disaster!  The best thing it had going for it was its lovely location on the harbour in Geelong but it was tres sad.  I was really worried that if this was the quality of markets I was to expect in Geelong then we have made a grave grave mistake moving here!  So, it was on!
My search for a good, nay awesome market!  It took a few tries but I found  it….more on that in a minute.  The next weekend I rolled up my sleeves and went in search of more markets.  Next was the Belmont Sunday Market…a little bit of trash and treasure never goes astray but it was not what I was looking for.  So, that very afternoon I went to find the Central Geelong Farmers Market. Disappointing…I can’t say anything else! I was so disappointed that I took off to Melbourne the following weekend and went to Camberwell Markets.  WOW! What a treasure trove of trash and treasure!  There was loads of second hand goods, or hand-crafted goods with stuff like vintage clothing, crockery and books as well as unusual things like photo albums, typewriters and ornaments.  Still this was in Melbourne and it was not exactly what I was looking for….Next, came a visit to Geelong from mum and dad and I know Mum loves a good market just as much as I do so I was desperate to find one and I did!!!!!

The inaugural post. Where do you start? What to say? 'Just do it' I hear my husband say. 'How long do you need to think about it?'. Well it's been about 2 months so I guess he has a point. It finally dawned on me that I was busy thinking about what to write and how to start and what I could do to start making my life more interesting but not actually doing anything about it. So I surfed the net for local markets and subsequently dragged the family to the Newcastle Farmers Markets last Saturday. And guess what - we had a great time.
Jane, it has changed so much since we were there last. Heaps more stall holders, more food and lots of fun stuff for the kids to do. Check out Sienna and Kobe's faces!!!! I actually went specifically to check out the Iced Queens. They are local cake makers who specialise in irresistible cupcakes and cake pops. I hadn't heard of cake pops before but now I can say they are both cute and delicious at the same time. Sienna chose a cake pop in the shape of a Christmas tree and Kobe's was a snowman. I can't wait till I can order some for someones birthday - maybe even mine :-)
